Jayawardene is the first of three Sri Lanka batters on this prestigious list. It took him 15 years and 368 innings to reach the milestone, which arrived during a match-winning 84 not out against Australia during the 2013 Champions Trophy.

9. Sanath Jayasuriya – 354 innings for 11,000 ODI runs

All of 354 innings and 16 years after his 1989 ODI debut, Jayasuriya reached 11,000 runs in the intermediate format of the international game. It arrived during a characteristically swashbuckling century against the Netherlands in Amstelveen in 2006.

8. Inzamam-ul-Haq – 324 innings for 11,000 ODI runs

The only Pakistani on this list, Inzamam took 324 innings to reach 11,000 ODI runs. He only scored 31 not out on the day, but it was enough to steer his team to victory over England in Lahore in 2005.

7. Kumar Sangakkara – 318 innings for 11,000 ODI runs

The year was 2013, the venue Pallekele and the opposition Bangladesh, as Sangakkara reached 11,000 ODI runs – spread across 318 innings for Sri Lanka, the Asia XI and the International Cricket Council’s World XI.

More than 15 years and 288 innings into his ODI career, Ganguly celebrated 11,000 runs against England in Birmingham in 1992. He top-scored for India with 72 on the day, but India lost the match.

A dozen years and 276 innings later, Tendulkar achieved 11,000 runs in ODI competition. He hit 87 not out on the day, as India beat England in Kanpur in 2002. Tendulkar will likely fall to third position and Sharma moved into second on this list soon.

Kohli is one of three Indian stars on this list – soon to be four. He holds the record for being the fastest to reach 11,000 runs in ODIs. The milestone arrived for him during the 2019 Cricket World Cup, against Pakistan, in Manchester. It took him 222 innings.
