9. Kuldeep Yadav – 150 wickets in 88 ODIs

The only left-arm wrist spinner on this list, Yadav against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2023 – more than six years after his first ODI wicket for India.

8. Matt Henry – 150 wickets in 85 ODIs

One of two New Zealanders on this list, Henry also reached his milestone against Sri Lanka – in Auckland in 2025. He was named Player of the Series.

7. Ajantha Mendis – 150 wickets in 84 ODIs

Hailed as a ‘mystery spinner’ for several years, Mendis achieved the landmark against the West Indies in Colombo in 2008. It was satisfying for him to do it at home. The Sri Lankan was a real star during his time.

6. Brett Lee – 150 wickets in 82 ODIs

The first of two Australians on this list, Lee achieved the feat inside the first five years of his ODI career. He also brought up the milestone against Sri Lanka – in Dambulla in 2004.

5. Trent Boult – 150 wickets in 81 ODIs

The first of two left-arm fast bowlers on this list, Boult welcomed his 150th ODI wicket at The Oval in London against Bangladesh during the 2019 Cricket World Cup. He performed really well for New Zealand.

=3. Mohammed Shami – 150 wickets in 80 ODIs

India’s only fast-bowling representative on this list, Shami was also at The Oval – against England – when his 150th ODI wicket arrived. It took him almost 10 years to reach this mark.

=3. Rashid Khan – 150 wickets in 80 ODIs

Afghanistan’s only player on this list, Khan reached 150 ODI wickets against Bangladesh in Chattogram in 2022. He had debuted in this format of the international game more than six years prior.

2. Saqlain Mushtaq 150 wickets in 78 ODIs

The Pakistan spinner averaged one ODI per week inside the first 800 days of his ODI career. His 150th wicket in this format came against India in Dhaka in 1998.

1. Mitchell Starc – 150 wickets in 77 ODIs

The Australian fast bowler holds the record for the fastest to 150 ODI wickets. He, too, reached the milestone during the 2019 Cricket World Cup – against the West Indies in Nottingham.

It will be interesting to see if anyone else beats Starc’s record in the future – or which other bowlers manage to get their names on this illustrious list. Time will tell.
