Kane Williamson has hit the fourth most ODI centuries for New Zealand.

Kane Williamson welcomed a 14th ODI century for New Zealand in February 2025.

Has he hit the most centuries for his country in this format of the international game?

Read on to find out who has hit the most centuries in ODI cricket for New Zealand.

7. Daryl Mitchell – six ODI centuries for NZ

Mitchell has six ODI centuries to his six half-tons in the same format after 39 innings. That’s a relatively prolific conversion rate for an all-rounder who is bowling a lot less and concentrating more on his batting these days. He has as many ODI tons as Australia’s Travis Head, England’s Alex Hales and South Africa’s Rassie van der Dussen.

6. Tom Latham – seven ODI centuries for NZ

Latham has accrued seven centuries across 13 years of ODI cricket. Some might argue that the occasional captaincy has limited rather than empowered his primary role with the bat. That said, for the most part, he has opened the batting. This can pose a significantly tougher challenge against the swinging and seaming ball rather than in the middle order, where the ball is older.

5. Stephen Fleming – eight ODI centuries for NZ

Fleming has since become a popular coach in the Indian Premier League, namely with the Chennai Super Kings. But back in the day, when he was also captaining New Zealand, Fleming hit eight centuries in 269 ODI innings. He, like Latham, scored a lot of his runs as an opening batter – and represented the International Cricket Council’s World XI in ODI competition.

4. Kane Williamson – 14 ODI centuries for NZ

Williamson now has 14 ODI centuries. The 14th steered the Black Caps to victory over South Africa in February 2025’s tri-series opener. He is no longer captaining New Zealand – and it’s evident that the removal of this responsibility is pushing Williamson to do even better with the bat. Time will tell whether he can surpass the number of ODI tons collected by Astle.

3. Nathan Astle – 16 ODI centuries for NZ

Astle hit 16 centuries in 12 years of ODI cricket. World cricket lost an entertaining big-hitter when he left the format in 2007. Astle hit five ODI tons against India – and not one of these at home. From Rajkot to Nagpur and back again, Astle really enjoyed batting against the Indians away from home.

2. Martin Guptill – 18 ODI centuries for NZ

Guptill only recently retired from all international cricket, but had played his last ODI in 2022. He collected 18 ODI centuries during a reasonably prolific career. To this day, he still holds one of the highest scores in ODI cricket – 237 not out against the West Indies in Wellington in 2015. He also has two 180-plus scores in ODI cricket. He knew how to go big when it counted most.

1. Ross Taylor – 21 ODI centuries for NZ

Taylor hit 21 ODI centuries for the Kiwis. He did this across 220 innings, effectively averaging a century every 10 ODI innings. Taylor also captained New Zealand and, more recently, was back in the new for joining the European Cricket league. Bowlers beware, as he tucks into anything loose on those artificial pitches.
