All about the rain in Port of Spain

The organizational failings of the West Indies Cricket Board were laid bare on a day where no cricket was possible in Port of Spain despite bright sunshine early on.

Play was initially delayed due to a wet outfield, with no super sopper equipment available to help dry the field.

India face the possibility of losing their number one ranking spot due, in part, to an ineffective and under-equipped ground staff.

For large periods of the day, no effort was made on the part of the ground staff to dry the outfield, and when the rain began to fall again in the afternoon the umpires were left with no alternative but to call play off for the day.

It remains to be seen if any play will be possible tomorrow and if anything will be done to try and facilitate play.
