An outstanding performance from all-rounder Ravindraj Jadeja carried the Chennai Super Kings to a relatively comfortable seven-run victory over the Rajasthan Royals in Wednesday's entertaining Indian Premier League fixture at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
Jadeja's quickfire cameo of 36 not out, which spanned a mere 33 deliveries and featured just two boundaries, capped a final total of 140 for six. West Indian opening batsman Dwayne Smith earlier struck a brisk 50, lined with a sextet of fours and a trio of handsome sixes.
Spinner Jadeja later completed a prolific haul of four for 33, reducing the Royals to an insufficient 133 all out in 19.5 overs. The Man of the Match's fine figures boasted the wickets of Australian all-rounders Shane Watson and Steven Smith – and New Zealander Tim Southee.
The result pushed the Super Kings to second position in the eight-team standings, while Rajasthan remained fifth. Thursday will see the Royal Challengers Bangalore clash with the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
