Ashwin five-for can’t prevent damp draw

Even though India made Bangladesh follow-on, the one-off Test between the sides ended in an expected draw after every one of the five days was heavily interrupted by rain in Fatullah.

The Tigers resumed the last day on 111 for three, after India posted 462 for six in their innings, and proceeded to collapse to 256 all out.

Imrul Kayes hit 72 for the hosts while wicketkeeper Litton Das, who was on debut, showed some promising signs with a well-made 44.

Besides their batting, the other positive that came out of the match for India was a first overseas five-wicket haul for spinner Ravi Ashwin.

Ashwin captured five for 87 in 25 overs while fellow spinner Harbhajan Singh, playing his first Test match in two years, took three for 84.

The home team faced just 15 overs in the second innings and ended on 23 without loss before the captains decided to shake hands.

The teams will now play three ODI's in Mirpur starting on 18 June.
