Axar stars as India A canter to victory
Axar Patel completed an outstanding all-round match by bowling India A to victory by an innings and 81 runs over South Africa A on the final day of the unofficial four-day Test Series in Wayanad.
India thus win the series one-nil after the first match was drawn. The hosts declared overnight with a first innings lead of 157 runs and then bowled South Africa out in the morning session for just 76 with Patel returning the outstanding figures of six overs, six maidens and taking four wickets.
This followed his five-wicket haul in the first innings and his third highest score in the Indian innings of 69 not out. His match bowling aggregate was nine for 92.
Stiaan van Zyl and Quinton de Kock were the only players to reach double figures in the South African second innings as the visitors were 296 all out on day one.
The hosts then replied with 417 for eight before cantering to victory on the final day.
