Blackcaps dominate Zim in Bulawayo

New Zealand

New Zealand took control right from the start and set about dominating day one of the second Test against Zimbabwe at the Queens Sport's club in Bulawayo.

The Blackcaps scored 329 runs at 4.6 runs per over and lost only two wickets to take a commanding position against their beleaguered hosts.

Tom Latham scored a second consecutive century, and fell two balls short of batting for the entire first day, Sean Williams taking a return catch off his bowling to see the opener dismissed for 136.

Skipper Kane Williamson finished unbeaten on 95, five runs short of completing his collection of centuries against every Test playing nation.

Martin Guptill was the first New Zealand batsman to go when he got a ripper from Donald Tiripano to be trapped leg before, after scoring 87.

New Zealand will resume tomorrow morning firmly in control of this second Test.
