The Deccan Chargers registered their first point in IPL 2012 after their clash with the Kolkata Knight Riders was abandoned due to heavy rain at Eden Gardens.
It was raining from the word go in Kolkata, with not even a toss possible.
While the heavy rain abated an hour after the scheduled start, such was the nature of the downpour and the strong winds that accompanied it, play always looked unlikely, with massive puddles having gathered on the outfield.
Indeed, so strong where the winds that a temporary stand collapsed, injuring three people – luckily none seriously.
With each team handed a point, the Chargers have at last opened their account, although they remain rooted to the bottom of the table. The Knight Riders remain in second place.
