The Chennai Super Kings made sure the Delhi Daredevils continued to languish at the bottom of the IPL table, without a victory, as they defeated them by a hefty 86 runs on Thursday.
Chennai made 169 for four in their 20 overs, with Australian Michael Hussey recording an unbeaten 65, and skipper MS Dhoni contributing a valuable 44 off 23 balls. Delhi were then all out for 83 in the 18th over.
Chennai's innings wasn't at all impressive in the early stages, despite losing only one wicket in the first 10 overs. Hussey batted at a pedestrian pace, and after 10 over they were only going at six to the over.
But Dhoni came in after Suresh Raina was dismissed and proceeded to push the pace, striking five boundaries and a six and inspiring Mr Cricket to accelerate his own knock. His 65 came off 50 balls, and included two sixes and six fours.
The Daredevils were never in the running, losing opener David Warner for just one run, and Virender Sehwag could only make 17. Mohit Sharma was responsible for those wickets, as well as removing Manprit Juneja for two.
The top score for Delhi was 31 by Kedar Jadhav, and aside from him and Sehwag the only other man to reach double figures was Jeevan Mendis, who made 12.
Chennai made light work of wrapping up the tail, with India spinners Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja adding to their tally, while Dwayne Bravo took three catches and a wicket of his own.
The win moved Chennai up to fourth place, with three wins out of five, while the Daredevils remained the only side without a single point.
