Chennai make light work of Deccan

Having lost their opening match of the competition, the Chennai Super Kings bounce back in style, securing a 74-run win over the Deccan Chargers.
Ravindra Jadeja was the star of the show, scoring 48 off 29 and picking up five wickets at the cost of just 14 runs as Deccan folded for 119 in 17.1 overs in pursuit of 193.
Having seen the Royals notch up 191 on Friday, the Super Kings upped the ante and produced the highest total of the tournament after being put in to field.
Despite the early loss of Murali Vijay, the men from Chennai never let the scoring rate flounder with opener Faf du Plessis (39 off 25) leading the charge at the top of the order.
When the South African departed, Jadeja walked to the wicket and delivered a masterclass of T20 batting. Hitting three fours and three sixes in an innings of 48 off 29, ended cruelly when he trod on his own stumps.
If Deccan thought they had seen the worst of it, they were horribly wrong.
Enter Dwayne Bravo who plundered five sixes in a knock of 43 off 18 as the West Indian transformed a good total into a great one.
In response, the Chargers never really got going, with tight bowling from the Super Kings spinners slowly choking the life out of the innings.
Ravi Ashwin (0 for 12 in three) did the business up front and Suresh Raina (1 for 10 in two) provided good support. It was Jadeja that capitalised on the good work upfront and ripped the heart out of the innings with five strikes.
In the end, the Charges didn't come close, stuttering to a 74-run loss.
