Daredevils lose sixth on the trot

The Delhi Daredevils crashed to a sixth successive defeat – by 62 runs – in Thursday's one-sided Indian Premier League fixture against the Rajasthan Royals Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.
A commanding half-century from opener Ajinkya Rahane and complementary cameos from all-rounder Kevon Cooper and wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Sansom pushed the Royals to a formidable total of 201 for six.
Delhi later slumped to a severely insufficient 139 for nine, which would have read considerably less – were it not for middle-order batsman Manoj Tiwary's standalone 61 not out.
Six of Rajasthan's seven bowlers snared a wicket, with seamer Rajat Bhatia securing a brace. Rahane was named Man of the Match – for an entertaining knock that brought 64 runs, spanned a mere 50 deliveries and featured eight fours and a solitary six.
The result kept the Daredevils franchise rooted to the bottom of the eight-team standings, while the Royals' occupancy of third position – flanked by the Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders – was consolidated.
