Gayle, Kumar down Royals
Royal Challengers Bangalore captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bowl first in Saturday's Indian Premier League clash against the Rajasthan Royals at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
A characteristically quick 49 not out from West Indian recruit Chris Gayle carried the Royal Challengers Bangalore to a comfortable seven-wicket win over the Rajasthan Royals in Saturday's Indian Premier League clash at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The Royals staggered to just 117 in 19.4 overs, with veteran former India batsman Rahul Dravid top-scoring with 35. RP Singh took three for 13 and Vinay Kumar thre for 18 for the hosts.
There was a slight wobble for the Challengers as they crawled to 64 for three after nine overs, but Gayle and Saurabh Tiwary – on his return from injury – saw them home.
Gayle's 49 came in a careful 44 balls, as he made do with four fours and a six.
Tiwary blasted one maximum in his 29-ball knock, as the pair guided the table-topping Challengers home with 13 balls to spare.
