Gilchrist damages Bangalore hopes

Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist upstaged West Indian recruit Chris Gayle, as the Kings XI Punjab trumped the Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets in Tuesday's Indian Premier League fixture against the Kings XI Punjab at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Former Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Adam Gilchrist upstaged West Indian recruit Chris Gayle, as the Kings XI Punjab trumped the Royal Challengers Bangalore by seven wickets in Tuesday's Indian Premier League fixture against the Kings XI Punjab.
Opening batsman Gilchrist's 54-ball innings contained 10 fours and a six as the Kings XI chased down a target of 175 with 11 balls to spare.
The veteran Aussie received support from Azhar Mahmood, who contributed 61 to a second-wicket stand of 118.
The Royal Challengers had earlier made a total of 174 for five after being invited to bat at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Gayle (77) and Virat Kohli (57) put on 136 for the second wicket, while Parvinder Awana picked up three for 39 and Mahmood two for 24.
The result moved the Kings XI up to sixth place in the nine-team league on 12 points. The Royal Challengers remain in fourth on 16 points.
