India easily wrap up ODI series whitewash

India cruised to a series whitewash over Zimbabwe as they won the third ODI in Harare by 10 wickets, with the hosts once again unable to defend a small total.

Zimbabwe had been bowled out for 123, their second below-130 score in as many matches, and India chased that down with 28 overs to spare. As such, India lost just three wickets in the entire series.

Zimbabwe had won the toss and opted to bat, but were soon a man down as Hamilton Masakadza departed for eight. Vusi Sibanda and Chamu Chibhabha then rescued the knock slightly, slowly taking them to 55 in the 20th over.

But four wickets in four balls saw the hosts go from 104 for three to 104 for seven, and then the rest of the tail followed swiftly. Elton Chigumbura was out for his second golden duck in as many games.

Seamer Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the visiting bowlers, taking four for 22, while spinners Axar Patel and Yuzvindra Chahal took three between them in a very short space of time.

Faiz Fazal opened the batting on debut for the chase, and made a nifty 55, while KL Rahul's excellent form continued with 63 as they made short work of the target.

Fazal's score was the third best by an India opener on debut in an ODI (Rahul's ton earlier in this series was the best).

The sides will next contest a two-match T20 series at the same venue, starting on Saturday.
