Knight Riders secure six wicket win
Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir put-on 100 runs for the first wicket to help the Kolkata Knight Riders to a six wicket victory over the Lahore Lions.
The win marked the 11 on a trot for the Knirght Riders who welcomed Uthappa back from injury.
Uthappa nearly enjoyed a dream return as he was out four runs short of his fifty – his departure sparking a mini collapse that gave the Lions a sniff towards the end.
Chasing only 152 for victory, the Knight Riders worked harder for the win after the solid opening stand as Mohammad Hafeez kept his side in it to the end tight by taking three quick wickets to bring his side back into contention.
Suryakumar Yadav, however, finished the game off with a blitz 14 runs off five balls to ensure his side remains unbeaten.
Coming off a four day break the Lions batsmen struggled to contend with spinner Sunil Narine who took three wickets while conceding only four-runs in his spell.
Poor fielding was one of the stand-out features of the match and was on full display when Uthappa and Gambhir were put a ton on the board.
The Lions did well in the opening Powerplay, with Ahmed Shehzad blasting a few big hits down the ground to ensure his side had 47 runs before the first wicket fell.
Then came the splendid display by Narine and the Lions were pinned back to a total that was never going to be enough against a team that boasts so many great batsmen.
