Mishra takes four as Delhi canter to victory


Amit Mishra bowled superbly to finish with figures of four for 11 before Quinton de Kock hit an unbeaten 59 as the Delhi Daredevils registered their first victory of the IPL season when they beat the Kings XI Punjab by eight wickets on Friday.

The 33-year-old Mishra was almost unplayable with his legspinners, getting rid of all Punjab's dangermen including Shaun Marsh (13), David Miller (9) and Glen Maxwell (0) as the visitors could only muster 111 for nine in their 20 overs.

The Kings XI batsmen will be very disappointed with their batting effort on a pitch hat had no real demons in it but only opener Manan Vohra (32) showing any resistance to the Delhi bowling.

Delhi captain Zaheer Khan finished with figures of one for 14 from four overs while Chris Morris and Jayant Yadav and picked up one wicket each.

The total was never going to be enough for the hapless Kings XI side and they were put to the sword by De Kock, who brought up his fifty off just 38 balls.

Sanju Samson contributed a run a ball 33 as the home team only lost two wickets (Shreyas Iyer (3)) as they reached their target with more than six overs to spare.

The Kings XI Punjab has now slipped to their second consecutive loss and will their overseas contingent to come to the party if they want to compete t his season.
