Mumbai remain without a win
The Mumbai Indians slumped to a fourth consecutive defeat this year, as the Delhi Daredevils welcomed a superb six-wicket win in Sunday's entertaining Indian Premier League fixture at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
The Mumbai Indians slumped to a fourth consecutive defeat this year, as the Delhi Daredevils welcomed a superb six-wicket win in Sunday's entertaining Indian Premier League fixture at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates.
West Indian all-rounder Kieron Pollard's standalone 33 not out was as good as it got in a weak total of 125 for six from the Mumbai franchise, with talented seamer Jaydev Unadkat the pick of the opposition seamers on the back of fine figures of two for 29.
The Daredevils' pursuit was not as prompt as anticipated, with the sluggish nature of the pitch and a staunch defence from fast bowler Lasith Malinga and Pragyan Ojha testing the batsmen.
Opener Murali Vijay's Man of the Match 40 and an undefeated 26 not out from captain and England exile Kevin Pietersen, however, sealed victory with seven deliveries to spare. Sunday's second fixture will see the Sunrisers Hyderabad clash with the Chennai Super Kings at the same venue.
