Opener Dwayne Smith's quickfire half-century and three key wickets from seamer Dhawal Kulkarni ensured a comfortable 58-run win for the Mumbai Indians in Saturday's Indian Premier League clash against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium.

Smith (50), Sachin Tendulkar (23), Dinesh Karthik (43) and Kieron Pollard (34) led the way as the Indians piled up 194-7 after opting to bat.

RCB finished well short on 136-7 in reply, Kulkarni claiming 3-19 and two wickets each for Harbhajan Singh (2-21) and Smith (2-20).

Eighth-wicket pair Ravi Rampaul (23no) and Vinay Kumar (26no) saw out the final six overs after RCB slumped to 85-7 to at least protect their net run-rate to an extent.

The result leaves Mumbai as one of three teams on 10 points, two behind Chennai Super Kings and RCB.
