Mustafizur ensures Tigers clean sweep

A five-wicket haul by left-arm paceman Mustafizur Rahman ensured Bangladesh beat Zimbabwe by 61 runs in the third and final ODI in Mirpur to complete a series whitewash for the hosts.

Mustafizur recorded figures of five for 34 in eight overs as the Tigers bowled the African side out for 215 in 43.3 overs after the hosts posted 276 for nine in their 50 overs.

The 20 year-old Mustafizur dismissed openers Chamu Chibhabha and Regis Chakabva before the start of the seventh over to set the tone of another dismal chase from the tourists.

Only Sean Williams (64), captain Elton Chigumbura (45) and Malcolm Waller (32) put up any sort of resistance for Zimbabwe as they crumbled under the lights at the Shere Bangla National Stadium.

All the other Tigers' bowlers, five of them, chipped in with a wicket each as Bangladesh continue to show that they are now a force to be reckoned with in world cricket, especially in their own conditions.

Earlier, the Tigers' openers, Tamim Iqbal (73) and Imrul Kayes (73), put on 147 inside 30 overs to lay a solid platform for the home team to put up a stiff target.

Although Zimbabwe fought back nicely with the ball and in the field, number five batsman Mahmudullah (52) made sure Bangladesh got up to a more than competitive total.

The teams will contest two T20Is at the same venue on Friday and Sunday.
