The second ODI between New Zealand and the West Indies at McLean Park in Napier on Sunday was abandoned without a ball bowled.
Play was scheduled to start at 14:00 local time (01:00 GMT). Three hours and 30 minutes later, however, inclement weather saw umpires Chris Gaffaney and Ian Gould declare a washout.
The Windies won the first match of the five-fixture series by two wickets at Eden Park in Auckland earlier this week. Queenstown, Nelson and Hamilton will host games three, four and five on 1, 4, and 8 January respectively. Two Twenty20 Internationals will follow.
Meanwhile, batsman Darren Bravo has left tour due to personal reasons. The Windies, who have also lost all-rounder Marlon Samuels and opener Chris Gayle to respective wrist and hamstring injuries, will not call up a replacement.
