Thursday's Champions Trophy warmup fixture between Sri Lanka and Pakistan was washed out without a ball bowled at Edgbaston.

Vying for adequate preparation ahead of their respective Group A and Group B campaigns, the Sri Lankans and Pakistanis instead fell prey to the sodden Birmingham weather.

While the inclement eventually relented, conditions were too sodden for play, with umpires Bruce Oxenford and Rod Tucker ultimately declaring a no-result.

Sri Lanka's next practice clash is against India at the same venue on Saturday, and Pakistan will meet the Proteas at The Oval in London on Monday.

The tournament proper gets underway on Thursday at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, where the Indians and Proteas will open Group B.
