Rampaul, Ramdin too hot for Heat

Captain Denesh Ramdin's authoritative cameo and seamer Ravi Rampaul's telling four-wicket haul carried Trinidad and Tobago to a convincing 25-run victory over the Brisbane Heat – in Sunday's Champions League Twenty20 Group B fixture at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
Restricted to a modest final total of 135 for nine, with Ramdin's 48 as good as it got, the Caribbean outfit later dismissed the Australian unit for a mere 110, as Rampaul secured figures of four for 14 in two deliveries short of four overs.
The Heat relied heavily on the contribution of opener Joe Burns, whose 45 ultimately received very little support, with a string of promising starts through the middle order thwarted by a spirited Trinidad and Tobago attack.
Earlier, Man of the Match Ramdin's vigil featured a quartet of boundaries and twin sixes, spanning a mere 38 deliveries. His stay proved particularly important, after the talented Darren Bravo and Sherwin Ganga endured ducks.
The contribution of tail-ender Samuel Badree's defiance, meanwhile, will not be underestimated. His steely late-order defiance, which brought a cavalier 15 not out, effectively proved the difference in a characteristically competitive match.
