Sri Lanka's four-day tour fixture against Northamptonshire concluded in a tame draw at Wantage Road on Sunday.

The match, hampered by plenty of inclement weather, which saw day three washed out entirely, afforded the Sri Lankans plenty of preparation for this week's first Test against England at Lord's.

Big centuries by the right-handed Kaushal Silva and left-handed Lahiru Thirimanne were followed by four telling breakthroughs apiece for spinner Dilruwan Perera and fast bowler Dhammika Prasad.

Opener Dimuth Karunaratne and Kumar Sangakkara later enjoyed promising second-innings vigils, after middle-order batsman Rob Keogh had defied the visiting attack with a fine ton.

The tourists, meanwhile, will continued to wait on the fitness of fast bowler. Lakmal injured a hamstring during the ODI series against the same opposition earlier this month – and was replaced by spinner Rangana Herath.

"Lakmal is a huge loss but everyone saw yesterday that our pace bowlers did brilliantly on this track. We have a good pace attack so we can do much better on this tour," said team-mate Prasanna Jayawardene. "If he's fit, he'll definitely come in."
