The Sunrisers Hyderabad romped to the top of the 2013 Indian Premier League points table on the back of a comfortable five-wicket triumph over the Kings XI Punjab at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal on Friday.
The Kings XI were restricted to 123-9 from their 20 overs after opting to bat first at the Rajiv Ghandi International Stadium.
Skipper Adam Gilchrist's 26 was the top score as Sunrisers leg-spinners Karan Sharma (2-19) and Amit Mishra (2-29) each picked up two wickets.
Hanuma Vihari led the way with 46 and Thisara Perera hit three sixes in his 11-ball 23 not out as the Sunrisers knocked off their target with seven balls to spare.
The new franchise, which replaced Deccan Chargers as Hyderabad's IPL representative this season, have won five of their first seven games to move two points clear of Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
