Tridents and Tallawahs’ game washed out

The Caribbean Premier League match between the Jamaica Tallawahs and the Barbados Tridents got off to a brisk start on Monday, but was cut short by the weather in Bridgetown and there was no result.

Only 10 overs were bowled in the abandoned match, with the Tallawahs reaching 116 for two thanks to an unbeaten 47 from opener Chris Gayle. Chadwick Walton and Kumar Sangakkara had both been removed for 25.

After the rain arrived, the officials waited till the last possible moment before bowing to the inevitable and calling the game off, as the rain did not let up.

As such, each side recorded one point. This left the Tallawahs second on the table with five points, while the Tridents had three points in total but two games in hand over the leaders, Guyana.
