White takes Deccan to first win

Cameron White's brutal 78 allowed the Deccan Chargers to register their first win in the 2012 Indian Premier League.
Cameron White's brutal 78 allowed the Deccan Chargers to register their first win in the 2012 Indian Premier League, as they overcame the Pune Warriors by 18 runs at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium on Thursday.
White's hefty knock took just 46 balls and included five sixes as he powered the Chargers to a formidable total of 177 for four.
Although the Warriors put in a late surge to hint at an unlikely victory, they eventually feel some distance short as Deccan held their nerve to open their account.
White's innings was the clear difference between the two sides, with no other batsman in the match reaching 30.
Although the Chargers got off to a brisk start, Kumar Sangakkara's patience in the middle stages of their innings left them 83 for three in the 12th over when the Sri Lankan captain departed.
However, JP Duminy (26 not out) joined White for a 75-run alliance in just 6.2 overs that ultimately turned the match.
Pune's reply never really picked up steam, with wickets falling at regular intervals and no batsmen able to meet the required run rate.
By the time Mithun Manhas blasted an unbeaten 22 from 14 balls the asking rate was far too much, and the Warriors finished their 20 overs with a score of 159 for seven, putting a major dent in their playoff hopes.
