Western Province received a timeous boost ahead of the Africa T20 Cup starting in Benoni on Friday 25th August when World Sports Betting extended their existing association with the Cape Cobras to include the sponsorship of Western Province for the continental T20 event.
World Sports Betting (WSB) came on board as title sponsor of the Cape Cobras in 2017, joining forces with the eight-time domestic champions for a three-year period.
“We don’t see our partnership of the Cape Cobras as merely a focus on the professional side,” said Ryno du Plessis, WSB Marketing Manager.
“We know that the next generation of WSB Cape Cobras players are going to come from Western Province so we want to support them at the start of their journey and we wish the coach and the team all the best for the tournament,” Du Plessis added.
David Brooke, Western Province Cricket Association Brand Activations and Sponsorship Manager said: “We recently announced World Sports Betting as title sponsors of the Cape Cobras.
“The fact that they have committed themselves to sponsoring the Western Province side for the Africa T20 Cup is a significant injection in the arm and can serve as a catalyst to propel the team to the semi-finals and even the title.”
Western Province will have several match-winning players at their disposal when they clash with Namibia on Friday at Benoni in the Africa T20 Cup opener.
Qaasim Adams, the captain, and Aviwe Mgijima both boast about ten years of first-class experience, while Dayyaan Galiem, Michael Cohen and Mpilo Njoloza can produce devastating swing.
Jason Smith, like Galiem, is an all-rounder who can produce game-changing performances with contemptuous ease with bat or ball.
Western Province are grouped with South Western Districts, Namibia and weekend hosts Easterns for Africa T20 Cup.
