England’s elite T20 competition returns next week with the 2025 T20 Blast. The English counties will battle it out for a ticket to Finals Day at Edgbaston.

The action will get underway on May 29th at Lord’s as Middlesex and Sussex kick off the competition, which will have 133 group stage matches up and down the country.

Will Gloucestershire go back-to-back and defend their maiden T20 Blast title, or will there be a new county on the trophy?

It’s a showground for the world’s premier white-ball talent, showcasing some of the best T20 bowlers in the world.

Let’s take a look at the 7 bowlers with the most wickets in the 2024 T20 Blast…

7. Ben Raine – 21 T20 Blast wickets

Raine is solidity personified and picks up wickets at will with his probing line and length collecting 21 wickets in 14 innings at an average of 16.85 in a highly effective 2024 campaign.

Season-best figures of 5/21 remain one of the most dominant spells of the tournament, showcasing his ability to take wickets and gain control in the power play period. His versatility in opening the bowling and at the death made him a weapon for Durham.

6. Pat Brown – 22 T20 Blast wickets

When in form, Brown is one of the world’s most ruthless death bowlers, and his skills were on full display for Derbyshire in 2024 as he picked up 22 wickets in 13 matches at an average of 18.18.

Though his bowling can often be expensive, he was his side’s go-to bowler under pressure and regularly delivered breakthroughs or game-changing moments when his side needed them most.

5. Luke Hollman – 23 T20 Blast wickets

2024 was a breakout season for the leg-spinner who took 23 wickets in 11 innings at a stunning average of 12.56 for Middlesex in the Blast.

He bowled consistently economically and was one of the most efficient wicket-takers in the tournament. The T20 cricket specialist’s best performance of 5/16 underlined his ability to change games in a single spell with the ball.

4. Tymal Mills – 24 T20 Blast wickets

Mills brings two vastly valuable assets to Sussex year on year – express pace and experience. 2024 showed his timeless ability to be ruthless with the ball as he took 24 wickets in 15 matches with his 90+ mph rockets.

He always seems to produce wickets in the death when it matters most and averaged 19.50 for the Sussex Sharks last year. His match winning credentials are clear to see with personal best figures of 4/25 in a tight contest.

=2. Matt Taylor – 29 T20 Blast wickets

Taylor was a key cog in Gloucestershire’s maiden title-winning T20 Blast campaign and a treasured member of their bowling unit. He picked up 29 poles from 16 games at a meaningful average of 14.37, breaking up countless partnerships.

He has a knack for coming up with match-turning spells, and an economy of 6.91 highlights just how effective he can be in squeezing the runs and ripping through batting lineups. Taylor is the first half of one of the most dangerous new-ball duos in the T20 Blast in England.

=2. Danny Briggs – 29 T20 Blast wickets

Briggs matched the leading wicket taker of last year’s Blast average of 12.75 but did so in two fewer matches, with the leg-spinner taking 29 wickets in 15 innings, showing his ability to collect useful scalps in the middle overs.

His economy of 6.37 was admirable, especially when you consider he bowled the majority of his overs in the middle of innings when batters were often set. His consistency and ability to pick up wickets in every match made him invaluable to the Birmingham Bears.

1. David Payne – 33 T20 Blast wickets

The seamer led the wicket-taking charts with 33 wickets in 17 games, sending down each delivery with remarkable consistency. An average of 12.75 and a strike rate of 12.15 reflect his ability to strike frequently and economically.

As the other half of a lethal new-ball Gloucestershire partnership with Matt Taylor, he maintained a superb economy of 6.29 despite bowling in the power play when he majority of fielders are inside the ring.
