Steven Smith moves up list of most Test centuries in winning causes

Steven Smith
Steven Smith has hit 24 centuries in Test match wins for Australia.

A century is a fantastic milestone for any batsman to reach, and to do it in a Test match is probably the pinnacle for anyone who wants to be remembered in the game. But some centuries carry more weight than others – scoring a ton in a winning cause is always the goal.

While a century in a losing cause is no less an achievement, it does somehow feel like it was in vain.

With their Test series against Sri Lanka concluded earlier in the week, Australian skipper Steve Smith scored centuries in each of the wins as Australia powered to a 2-0 series victory.

Those tons, scored in winning causes, saw him move past Donald Bradman and Matthew Hayden and into fourth spot on the list of most centuries in winning causes. Let’s look at the other names on this list – it’s fair to say that this is a list dominated by Australians.
