Dala called in by Delhi Daredevils

The Delhi Daredevils have named Proteas fast bowler Junior Dala as a replacement for his injured compatriot Chris Morris.

Morris suffered a recurrence of a back problem in the opening weeks of the Indian Premier League and will now return to South Africa to rest and recover.

Dala is a highly skilled white ball bowler possessed of genuine pace and a truly world class bouncer.

He was the pick of the Proteas bowlers in their recent series against India and joins Heinrich Klaasen in leveraging performances against Virat Kohli’s men into IPL deals.

Dala is a stalwart in Mark Boucher’s highly successful Titans franchise lifting four trophies with them in the past two seasons.

The Delhi Daredevils are currently bottom of the IPL standings with skipper Gautam Gambhir stepping down earlier this week.

There have been some bright spots for the Daredevils though with Jason Roy looking in good touch to start with an unbeaten 90 and Liam Plunkett impressing last time out taking 3/17 while Trent Boult has dazzled in the field.

Dala may struggle to break into the starting lineup ahead of the Blackcaps star and the Yorkshireman.
