Delhi Daredevils stop CSK going top

Bottom of the Indian Premier League Delhi Daredevils beat the Chennai Super Kings by 34 runs at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Friday.
Thirty odds from top, middle and lower order men built the Daredevils total of 162 for 5.
CSK’s opening bowlers made early inroads with Deepak Chahar (1/23) accounting for Prithvi Shaw (17) before Lungi Ngidi (2/14) knocked over Shreyas Iyer’s off stump to end his innings of 19.

Risabh Pant (38) rebuilt the innings with Iyer but departed just three balls after the skipper to leave CSK 81 for 3.
Vijay Shankar and Harshal Patel hit twin innings of 36 though the latter took just 16 balls to compile his knock while the former used 28.

The total looked gettable for the star-studded CSK lineup, and when Ambati Rayudu (50) was punishing the Daredevils bowlers things looked bleak for the basement boys.
But brilliant spells from Sandeep Lamichhane (1/21) and Amit Mishra (2/20) put the brakes on.

Harshal scored the all important wicket of Rayudu in the tenth over to spark the beginning of CSK’s troubles.
MS Dhoni (17) and Ravindra Jadeja (27*) allowed the required rate to balloon out of control and they would end well short of the target.
Trent Boult (2/20) and Mishra were the joint pick of the bowlers but Harshal’s effort with ball and bat was the difference between the two teams.
The Super Kings have already qualified for the playoffs but have left the door slightly open for the Kolkata Knight Riders to sneak into the qualifier on net run rate if they can beat the Sunrisers on Saturday and the Chennai franchise lose their final round robin game against the Kings XI on Sunday.
