Former skipper labels England Ashes favourites

Former skipper Charlotte Edwards has declared that the England Women’s team should be considered favourites to win the Ashes.
Edwards was part of the England squad that retained the Ashes in Australia in 2008 and captained the team to a World Cup and World T20 Double in 2009.
She won the Ashes three times during her playing days and feels that England can reclaim the ‘urn’ after their World Cup triumph.
England beat Australia during the 2017 World Cup group stages and went on to win the final against India at Lord’s.
The squad to tour Australia was announced last week with Heather Knight leading a 15-strong unit that will mount the Ashes challenge.

Edwards said on Sky Sports: “England are favourites.
They will have taken so much confidence from beating Australia in the World Cup but also winning the World Cup.
“They will go there really confident that they can do well having won the last Ashes series there. A lot of the players who played in that series are on this tour but they will be wary of Australia. It’s all set up to be an absolute cracker.”
England play three ODIs in October followed by a single Test that gets underway on November 9th at the North Sydney Oval, the tour rounds off with three T20Is from November 17-21.
