Harder to hit at Nagpur

India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal feels that England will have a harder time attacking the bowling at the larger ground at Nagpur.

Chahal was the pick of the India bowlers as his team slumped to a disappointing defeat to England in the first T20I at Kanpur’s Green Park.

The tweaker feels that England’s aggressive style could play into their hands in Sunday’s second T20I at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur.

Chahal told PTI: “A Big ground makes a difference. You can flight the ball. Also there’s a doubt in batsman’s mind as to which ball to hit and he will have to make a choice. In a small ground, batsman can try hitting every ball, but here he has to pick and choose.”

The spinner feels that in the shortest format all the pressure is on the bowler and you need to keep a cool head in the field.

He added: “We have not discussed (bowling strategy), but the way they batted in the previous game gives a plus point to the bowlers as they were trying to hit each and every ball. I got hit for a six on the first ball and then I got a wicket (of Roy).

“You have got six balls while the batsman has just one ball. You have to plan accordingly because T20 is such a quick format where you have to be on your toes always as you don’t what will happen next.”

Chahal struck twice in the space of an over in the first match removing both Jason Roy and Sam Billings after the pair made a great start that set up a match-winning partnership between Joe Root and Eoin Morgan.
