Allrounder Imad Wasim and top-order batsman Babar Azam have been recalled for Pakistan’s three-match T20I series against Australia. The first match of the series takes place on 24 October in Abu Dhabi.

There is no room for fast bowler Mohammad Amir but uncapped left-arm fast bowler Waqas Maqsood has earned a spot in the group.

Amir, who has been a key man for Pakistan since his reintegration into international cricket, is currently playing domestic cricket to rediscover his rhythm and also missed out on selection for the current Test series.

All-rounder Imad, who was left out of Pakistan’s Asia Cup squad over fitness concerns, has returned to the squad having not played a T20I for nearly a year. “Imad makes a comeback in the team after his form and fitness was monitored by the selection committee during the current domestic matches,” confirmed selection chief Inzamam ul Haq.

Babar also returns for the shortest format, while 30-year-old Maqsood features in the 15-man squad having impressed during the ongoing domestic season and the T20 series between Pakistan A and New Zealand A at the ICC Academy.
