Most runs in a single Women’s Ashes series – Ellyse Perry and Janette Brittin each feature twice in this top 7

A 16-0 Women’s Ashes victory for Australia highlighted the current gap between them and England in terms of quality.
The hosts dominated with bat and ball, but it was the individual batting brilliance of a number of their players which exposed the lack of contributions seen from English players in years gone by.
Throughout recent history we have seen closes Women’s Ashes series battled out with huge performances from batters on each side making it impossible to call the series victor.
However, the 2024/25 edition was as lop-sided as can be with England offering precious little on surfaces that Australia proved were ideal to bat.

In the 2019 series, the all-rounder claimed 378 runs at an average of 94.50 helped by four not-out scores along the way.

The great Ellyse Perry continued her effectiveness in her next series in England four years later with four vital half-centuries that helped the visitors draw the series 8-8 and retain the Ashes.
She was her nation’s backbone once more and anchored a series of innings to get her side over the line.
5. Nat Sciver-Brunt, 404 runs – 2023
England’s long-term and ever-reliable all-rounder is known for her ability to control a game, play with power and dominate bowlers when called upon.
In an iconic 2023 home series, she managed two centuries for England in her eight innings.
4. Beth Mooney, 409 runs – 2025
The star of the show during the recent Australian whitewash was undoubtedly Beth Mooney who showed dominance across all three formats.
English bowlers simply could not break her down as she raced to 409 series runs at an average of 68.16.
3. Janette Brittin, 429 runs – 1985
Known as one of England‘s finest batters with immense longevity during the 1980s and 90s.
She claimed 429 runs and ensured her name was known in the women’s game through her classy stroke-making.
2. Janette Brittin, 450 runs – 1997
A testament to her longevity, Brittin somehow bettered her exploits 12 years later with an almost unbelievable cameo for her 450 runs.
The total came in just five innings where she picked up two centuries and as many fifties at an eye-watering series average of 112.50.
1. Denise Emerson, 453 runs – 1985
Emerson was a prolific run scorer for Australia with her record series haul in 1985 showcasing her ability to build innings.
She faced 912 balls in just five matches as she struck a balance between absorbing pressure and scoring freely at an average of just over 50.
