South Africa's Dewald Brevis hit a T20I century against Australia in Darwin in August 2025.

What are the highest individual scores for South Africa in T20Is?

Find out more about South Africa’s highest T20I cricket scores.

Dewald Brevis is the latest to join this illustrious list.

1. Dewald Brevis: 125 not out

  • Opposition: Australia
  • Venue: Darwin
  • Year: 2025

Brevis screamed to the highest T20I score for South Africa against the Australians in 2025. It marked his first century in international cricket and, fittingly, a format in which he has been a household name in cricket around the world for an extended period.

Brevis made a name for himself in the Indian Premier League before graduating to the Proteas fold. All and sundry were reminded of his immense talent, on this famous day, when he belted eight sixes and a dozen fours in his 56-ball 125 not out. He should be a popular pick in online betting ahead of next year’s T20 World Cup.

2. Faf du Plessis: 119

  • Opposition: West Indies
  • Venue: Johannesburg
  • Year: 2015

The Wanderers was the scene and the men from the Caribbean the opposition when du Plessis went big in 2015. His knock was particularly important after the early departures of openers Rilee Rossouw and Morne van Wyk.

Five sixes and 11 fours later, he had absolutely delighted the home crowd during his 56-ball 119. It wasn’t enough, though, as Chris Gayle all but went even bigger later to usher in a four-wicket win for the Windies.

3. Richard Levi: 117 not out

  • Opposition: New Zealand
  • Venue: Hamilton
  • Year: 2012

Levi was one of the original big hitters in world cricket when T20Is started to emerge on the international scene. He loved to play across the line and club through the on-side. It worked, in fits and bursts, but not with significant consistency.

At Seddon Park, more than a decade ago, he was at his bludgeoning best. Tim Southee and company had little to no answers for his cavalier cameo, which spanned 51 balls – and featured five fours and a whopping 13 sixes.

4. Reeza Hendricks: 117

  • Opposition: Pakistan
  • Venue: Centurion
  • Year: 2024

Hendricks came close to reaching the highest individual score for South Africa in T20Is just last year, but ultimately fell short. Still, his innings at SuperSport Park was a marvel in calculated hitting.

It was all the more impressive given South Africa were chasing, not setting, a target. He hit seven fours and 10 sixes en route to 117 from 63 balls – and was named Player of the Match.

5. Morne van Wyk: 114 not out

  • Opposition: West Indies
  • Venue: Durban
  • Year: 2015

Van Wyk put Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo and company to the proverbial sword at Kingsmead 10 years ago. The Windies, in hindsight, should probably not have opted to bowl first.

Van Wyk nailed nine fours and seven sixes during a highly entertaining 85 minutes at the crease. David Wiese, when he was still playing for the Proteas rather than Namibia, later took a five-for to complete a big win for the hosts.

6. Rilee Rossouw: 109

  • Opposition: Bangladesh
  • Venue: Sydney
  • Year: 2022

Rossouw previously fell out of favour with South Africa due to Kolpak arrangements and other differences in opinion, but marked his comeback with a superb century during the 2022 T20 World Cup.

He packed eight sixes and seven fours during his 56-ball 109, taking full advantage of the batting-friendly conditions at the Sydney Cricket Ground against a minnow opposition bowling attack.

7. David Miller: 106 not out

  • Opposition: India
  • Venue: Guwahati
  • Year: 2022

Miller had so much experience of Indian conditions by the time South Africa’s 2022 T20Is rolled around. He took all that Indian Premier League prowess and put it into play for the Proteas.

India still won the match, but it will largely be remembered for ‘Miller Time’s’ 106 not out from just 47 balls, including eight fours and seven sixes. He really took a liking to Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel on the day.
